Welcome to Yoga with Charlotte Huggins

My focus in class is to teach functional movement helping you to move with fluidity and ease.

I am a BWY certified teacher based in Chichester with many years of experience teaching general classes open to all, privately in small groups or on a one to one basis.

General classes

I am delighted to be offering classes at Donnington Parish Hall PO19 8QT on Wednesday mornings at 9:30am to 10:45am.

General classes are held weekly and are open to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or fitness level. As a professional yoga instructor, I make sure that each person can go at their own pace and work towards their own goals. This means that beginner and experienced yogis can practice along side of each other. We focus on functional movement in postures to improve strength, balance and mobility. Each class will include breathing practises and relaxation so you leave feeling refreshed, energised and suitably chilled.

With regular practice, you can improve your movement, stability, and feel more at ease in your body and mind. You may start to notice that your daily activities become easier and lighter.

Specialist classes

Classes in your own home

I offer one to one yoga sessions for you in your own home. This could also include your partner. The benefit of this is that we arrange a time that is entirely convenient for you so you can practise without having to leave the comfort of your house. This option could suit you if you are very busy and perhaps don't have a fixed time when you could attend a general class.

One to one sessions may also appeal to you:

  • If you are a complete beginners and wish to learn the basics before attending classes.
  • You are an experienced yogi wishing to hone and develop a home practise.
  • You would like to explore therapeutic yoga perhaps helping you to eliminate chronic pain or to support good mental health.
  • You are pregnant and would like to learn the benefits of yoga during your pregnancy from the 2nd trimester until birth. No prior experience of yoga is necessary. Your partner would be welcome to attend as well.
  • Should you be living with series illness including long Covid, recent injury or are seeking to recover following an operation.
  • Wishing to develop a mediation practise

Other specialist classes include:

  • Bespoke classes for specific groups examples could include golfers, cyclists, walkers or tennis players

Day Retreats

Would you like more time practising yoga? Spending a whole day or half a day immersed in yoga is the perfect opportunity to grab some time for yourself to experience different yoga practises in depth and to meet like minded people. Throughout the year I lead a number of retreats which have previously been held at Lloyd Hall, Outwood, Surrey. I teach with my friend Gail Davies, a fantastic teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We design our retreats to be varied and fun ensuring that you return home feeling relaxed, revitalised and well fed since all our days include a delicious and nourishing home prepared meal.

We are planning our next event and will release details soon.

What You Can Expect

My classes are welcoming and suitable for everyone whether you are an experienced practitioner or are new to yoga as everyone practises to their own capacity. I give you agency to set your own thresholds so you can practise in a way that feels in tune with your needs on any given day.

In one to one sessions, I work with you, discussing your goals to ensure that our sessions together are completely tailored to align with your specific needs and interests.

Benefits of Yoga

A regular yoga practise can help you build a sense of embodiment, improve your movement patterns, improve strength, mobility, balance and suppleness in the body. It can help improve your posture.

Practising yoga regularly can also help improve many physical and mental conditions and ailments and give you a sense of enhanced well-being. Many people report that a balanced yoga practise improves their mental well-being and helps them to feel grounded allowing them to have a greater sense of ease with themself.

Asana

Practising postures – know as asana - helps us to become mobile, strong and improve our poise and balance. We learn to move with more ease. Asana practises also keep the joints lubricated helping to maintain their full range of motion. As the standing postures are weight bearing, they will help maintain bone density which is vital in combatting osteoporosis. Practise can stimulate many of the bodies systems so can improve digestion, elimination and circulation.

Deep Relaxation

Deep relaxation has many proven health benefits including slowing the heart rate and reducing high blood pressure. Taking relaxation practises is enormously helpful in reducing the impact of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Relaxation practises have been shown to release both physical and mental tension which is a great aid to proper rest and sleep.

Meditation

Meditation is training for the mind and there are many different techniques to choose from. Meditation helps us to become very present to whatever is happening in this moment. Improving our focus is a life skill that will help us to achieve our everyday goals and complete our tasks and activities.

Breathing Practices

There are many different breathing techniques in yoga together with ancient practises known as pranayama. When we practise these techniques, we are working our breathing muscles whicwlngs aBreathing practises also work to calm emotions and lower stress levels.

About Me

I am a member of the British Wheel of Yoga and completed my teacher training in 2004. I am fully insured. Every year I undertake many hours of training with a variety of different teachers to continually learn and update my skills and knowledge.

My classes are welcoming and friendly, inclusive and open to all.
