As a child I used to practise yoga at home from a book; I went to my first yoga class when I was 23 and thought that it was a great energetic work-out. Whilst I enjoyed the strong physcal challenge, it wasn't until I practised yoga in pregnancy that I began to have glimpses of yoga's potential as a tool for transformation.
My first career was in the Insurance industry but eventually I discovered that being a senior manager in the City was not compatable with having a very young family & when I left to work part time at home, I was able to resume a regular yoga class.
I've had many excellent yoga teachers over the years but the the teacher who influenced me the most is Chris Neave; she inspired so many of her students to become teachers of yoga and it was with her encouragement that I undertook the 3 year Bristish Wheel teacher training completing in 2004. Luckily I have a love of learning so I've thoroughly enjoyed all my ongoing training. Contining Professional Development is a requirement for all BWY teachers to ensure that we maintain high professional standards and that our knowledge continues to be updated.
The British Wheel of Yoga is a registered charity is recognised by Sport England and the Sport and Recreational Alliance as the National Governing Body for yoga in England. I was a member of the South East BWY Committee for 7 years and my roles as to organise training days for our Surrey members.
I live in Dorking and apart from yoga, I love nature, keeping fit, reading and having coffee with friends.
